On Rekid, parents buy and sell directly from each other. Almost every deal goes well. A few simple rules keep you out of trouble, whether you are buying a 100-lei jacket or a 3,000-lei stroller.
One thing to know from the start: nothing is paid online on Rekid. Rekid does not hold anyone's money, does not handle delivery and does not vouch for the items in listings. You agree things directly with the seller and pay when the item is in your hands.
Talk on Rekid
- Write to the seller from the listing, with the “Message the seller” button. The seller does not see your phone number. You share it only if you want to.
- Keep the conversation on Rekid. If someone pushes you to move to another app, be careful.
- When a message contains links or words about cards and payments, Rekid shows you a warning. Read it carefully.
Meet during the day, somewhere busy
- Choose a public place: outside a large store, at a market or at a bus stop. Do not go alone to an address you do not know; take someone with you.
- Tell someone in your family where you are going.
- Look at the item carefully before you pay: zippers, seams, wheels, straps. Try everything that can be tried.
- For a stroller, read How to choose a second-hand stroller. For a car seat, ask the year it was made and whether it has been in a crash; everything else is in Second-hand car seats: what to check.
Pay on pickup
- Pay only when the item is in your hands and you are happy with it.
- Never send money in advance to someone you do not know: not a “deposit”, not “to reserve it”, not “for delivery”.
- Never share your card details: the number, the expiration date or the code on the back.
- Never share codes you receive by SMS. With them, someone can take money from your card.
- Do not open “payment links” sent in messages. Rekid never asks for payments and never sends payment links.
If you cannot meet and the seller accepts courier or mail, the buyer pays for the transport. Ask the courier company whether you can pay for the item only when the parcel arrives. That way you never pay for something you have not seen.
Signs of a scam
- The price is far too low for a new or expensive item.
- You are being rushed: “today only”, “three other people want it”.
- They want to move to another app, or they send you links.
- They ask for a code from an SMS, your card details, or a payment through a link.
- They do not want to meet, but ask for money “for delivery” or “for insurance”.
- The photos look like they were taken from the internet, or do not match the description.
If you notice any of these signs, stop. You lose nothing by asking again or walking away.
What to check about the seller
- The “Phone verified” badge. It shows the person has confirmed their phone number.
- Reviews. The seller's profile shows what other parents have written about them.
- The profile. How long they have been on Rekid and what else they are selling.
These signs help, but they guarantee nothing. The rules above apply with everyone.
Report anything that seems suspicious
Listings go through an automatic check when they are published, and moderators look at the ones that get flagged. Your help matters.
- Tap “Report” on the listing, on the person's profile or in the conversation, and choose the reason.
- You can block the person. After that, they cannot write to you.
- Moderators check every report. If a conversation is reported, they can read it.
If something went wrong
If you sent money and the person stopped answering, or if you gave someone your card details or a code from an SMS, call your bank at once and ask them to block the card. Then report the person on Rekid and do not delete the conversation. Rekid cannot bring back money you sent to someone, but moderators can block the account, so the person cannot cheat anyone else. You can also tell the police.
